OT: What's Legal In Oregon.....Open Carry?
My concealed handgun permit is not recognized in OR. Is open carry by a non-res legal? How about an empty gun in one pocket, or place in the vehicle and a speed loader or mag in your shirt pocket or whereever...you get the idea....It just burns me up to leave my Second Amendment rights at the state line

Don't cross the state line and you won't give up anything. Choices...

Hi BlaineG, Tomorrow I'll look it up and post what I find.
Re: OT: What's Legal In Oregon.....Open Carry?
I've got the same problem when I want to cross OR to WA.
I know a whole lot about very little and nothing about a whole lot.

All too true. I'll have it reguardless, but it would be nice to avoid Gubment making the choice for meDBW wrote:Don't cross the state line and you won't give up anything. Choices...

One would think that being able to pass the telephonic background check to purchase would enable one to carry nationwide, but I guess that makes too much sensejdad wrote:I've got the same problem when I want to cross OR to WA.

Hi BlaineG,
In Oregon if you are a resident there, or traveling through, or visiting, is is legal to posses a handgun in your residence. You do not need to be a resident to do so. Residence includes recreational vehicles and/or boats. It is legal to carry a handgun openly in a holster also. Oregon 166.250 (2)(b). Oregon 166.250 (3).
I don't think a car or truck is considered a residence though.
I couldn't find anything that said the gun can't be loaded in your RV/boat, as opposed to traveling with a loaded gun in California. Bad -bad.
You probably would not have a problem traveling in a car or truck with an unloaded handgun, but I couldn't find any specific information on that.
There are several states that have recriprical agreements on concealed carry. Does your's?

Thanks, Gunsmith I'm going to persue the empty handgun with a handy mag option and see how that flys..... My Wing does have a front, lockable niche that an empty JFrame fits into and I can carry a speed loader in a MC Jacket pocketGun Smith wrote:Hi BlaineG,

Re: OT: What's Legal In Oregon.....Open Carry?
There are exceptions in Oregon to the open carry. There are a few cities like Portland that don't allow open carry, and overide state law there.
