OT-Veterans Day
Tomorrow at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month will mark the
91st anniversary of the end of the First World War.
I want to say "Thank you" to all
our Veterans!
Our world would not be the same without you!

Re: OT-Vetrans Day
Sadder than normal Remembrance Day for us, the last three British First World War veterans died this year.
William Stone, Henry Allingham and Harry Patch, may they R.I.P.
God Bless all who served and those who are are still serving.

Just spent this Rememberance Day evening sitting with my kids watching a documentary titled "Australians at War" , was proud to see they understood what this day is about

It took all of us but some gave so much more.

Many thanks to the Code Talkers as well. We have lost so very many WWII veterans... Some great folks, heck they were our parents, uncles and aunts...

Re: OT-Vetrans Day
My dad had four brothers. All but one were WW II vets. Sadly they are all gone now, but I'd like to give them and all vets who have past a posthumous, and all living vets and current military a great big THANK YOU!
Joe
The scan above is from a newspaper clipping from WW II. I guess it was unusual for an entire family of military to be home on leave at the same time. Joe

Thank you to all who served. We owe our freedom to the men (and women) who gave; all gave some, some gave all.
God bless you.

Re: OT-Veterans Day
THE FINAL INSPECTION
The soldier stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, you soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
The soldier squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry guns,
Can't always be a saint.
"I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough.
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
"But, I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep...
Though I worked a lot of overtime,
When the bills got just too steep.
"And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God, forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
"I know I don't deserve a place,
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fears.
"If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod.
As the soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, you soldier,
You've borne your burdens well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old,
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn,
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We shall remember them...
