We just lost another good one.

Post by crs »

After 67 years of active life(hunting, army, paratroops, recruiter, master cabinet maker, ham radio operator, husband, father, etc.) my brother in law, Joe Troupe, passed away in a hospice in Jackson, Miss yesterday afternoon.
His daughter, my wife and I were there and it was a trying experience. Joe had spent the last ten years or so collecting and shooting guns and hunting deer with a passion with pistols, rifles, and archery. He had recently guided his daughter and grandson to two huge trophy bucks at his deer camp. The lymphoma finally took him, but he went with his boots on and will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
RIP
We will be over there again next week for the memorial service.

Three cheers for Joe - we'll all see him up yonder. We also lost Lou Boldizar a pioneer on the Delaware river of primitive decoys - he was 92.

CRS. You are not going to believe this.

I know Joe. I know his son in law Baine (he's actually my Sysco broker in MS). I've spent several evenings in front of my buddy Smitty's fireplace conversing with Joe. Though, I haven't seen him for a couple of years now. We called him "Norm" - I don't know the story behind that...

I did hear from Smitty that he was ill and the last time I was there, we tried to get him on the phone...

Really sorry to hear his passing.

A very sad loss.
My wife is currently a 7 year lymphoma survivor and still looks gorgeous at 56. :D
We hold our breath every three months while waiting for her latest blood test results.
She always expects the worst.
Tragically, it can rear it's ugly head at any moment and destroy a loved one's life.
Please consider helping research with this cancer:

Gents - thanks for the kind words and prayers, both are appreciated.
All - we just heard that the memorial services will be Tuesday, so I will work tomorrow and drive from Dallas to Jackson Monday. Man, there is a lot of truck traffic on I20 between Dallas and Jackson!

OSOK - small world, eh? Since you knew Joe, it will not surprise you that he wanted(and will get) Bluegrass music played at his service. Also, the post service reception will be at Baine and Marty's house. May I tell them hello for you?

Yes, it really is, and please do - tell him Jac says hello. And no, I'm not at all surprised to hear that :)

Godspeed Joe. We'll think of you everytime we sit in front of the fireplace with the mantle that you constructed. :)

Seems I'm saying a lot of prayers the last couple days but you have mine and my condolences for your loss.

So sad. Sounds like he lived a good life however and that's certainly of some comfort.
