I am also interesting in something with longer ranges than Strickland. Let me know. I need to order some bullets so I can build some ammo beforehand. I'm getting a new reloading area setup so I'm kind of in a bad spot for ammo at the moment.

And of course ... food is good.

The Manatee Gun Club has 1,000 yards.

That would be on Hwy 64 east of Bradenton by about 15 or 20 miles.

I would love to meet some of the Florida Levergunners. Count me if I am not travelling during that time. I have family in Sarasota, so Manatee would be great for me.

My schedule is flexible. I am always up for getting together and shooting. I never been to Manatee.
What is the set up for long range? Do they have bunkers for target checker/changers or what? Do you need an RSO for your group/ or pre-qualify??

How about within the next couple of weeks...or beginning of February
I would like to hear a little more about the Manatee gun club
and this 1000 yard range...Can anyone shoot there or do you have to join
the club? Hopefully this weekend I will be going to the Florida State Championship
for The Single Action Shooting Society...Otherwise known as "SASS"
All the gun makers should be there...Cimarron, Taylors and Uberti...
Ruger and others...
I wonder if we could shoot at that club?
Heres the web site...if any of you may want to go

I would be interested if the shoot was on a Friday or Tuesday. Manatee is only a 30 minute haul for me.
thanks

fridays at manette works for me... let me know.. im planning a trip soon... feb looks good for me.... ill post when i go, ill bringing some long range guns, levers ect... just so u all know.. u can shoot at anything there, if u have steel, bring it, frozen water bottles, full pop cans, old propaine tanks, tanneritie, ect.. if u can haul it in an out u can shoot at it...

ref the earlier question, no you do not have to be a member, it cost something like $20 to shoot all day long

I'm guessing that would be about a 3 hour drive for me. Let me know, and I'll take a Friday off. Probably wouldn't make it there until around noon though ... maybe 11am.

Just got his responce

Ron,

Unfortunately, we are a private club. I do allow non-members to attend any match (IDPA,Carbine, IPSC, Steel Challege) that we put on. These are available to be viewed on our website at: http://www.volusiacountygunandhuntclub.com
However, If you were to coordinate with all of your lever members and set up a date, I would be more than happy to arrange a daily fee of $10 per person to come and shoot for the day. This could also be arranged to have this as a yearly meet/match for your group to use our range for this type of an event. Let me know what you think?

Thank you,

Has anyone decided on a date yet? Either Manatee or Volusia County sound good. The 2nd or 3rd week in February would be best for me. I would really like to meet some fellow Florida Levergunners. We just moved to South Florida from Texas last year.

You and I may have to make the drive over to Manatee County though. Sounds like there's a bunch over there that want to shoot at that range. I could probably take a Friday off to do it if that's the day of week we need to get the most people to join. Rihmfire, perhaps you can drive to my place and I can drive us to the range.

I'll be watching this thread, and Lord willing, will see you guys at Manatee.

I'm up for the 12th or the 19th and will probably stay for the weekend as I have family in Sarasota. I was looking at the Manatee gun club website and they have bench rest matches the 13th and 14th with practice during the week. Maybe the 19th would be better for us?

I got a driver of the moth award for the month of Dec. which gives me a paid holiday. I'd be willing to take it on the 19th if y'all want to go. One thing I remember about Manatee is that they sell Tanerite targets to shoot at. you miss they go whosh, you hit they go BANG! IIRC that's on the web site too unless Homeland security made them quit that.

I'll add that for anyone coming from the north and east of the Manatee range if you take hwy 17 to hwy 64 it is a straight shot to the range from there. You can look up the address on google maps to find out about Louge Rd. if you like.

I'll be putting it on my calender.

It might help being a sticky. We Floridians are slow to respond and this thing keeps rolling off the front page. Maybe make it a sticky until the Feb. 19th meet date? Probably will help those that just check in occasionally.
