OT; Sort of...not a lever gun......

Post by Mokwaw »

I have a couple of questions about a pump action rifle. I remember reading about a .223 cal pump rifle that Remington was making...it is not their model 760 or any of the earlier ones. It came out in the last 5-10 yrs....I think possibly for police/military use, and I think it used AR15/M16 mags....anybody remember these? What was it called? Were these strictly for police/military or were they also available to the public? I have a friend who has a Rem 760 .223 (Remington only made these for 4 yrs), but the mags are wearing out and becoming unreliable, and replacement mags seem to be extremely rare, as I have been unable so far to locate even one, thought maybe this Remington pump would be a good replacement for him (he doesn't care for Mini-14 or Ar-15), he is an avid coyote hunter. Anybody have any info to share? Thanks.

My boss bought one. He is a long time 870 fan and really likes it (same controls). The sheriff's office in a neighboring parish here bought a bunch of them for patrol rifles also. Overall everybody seems to like them.

Is that an M16 type magazine hanging out the bottom?

If so that rifle with a 30 rounder would be one heck of a house gun. You'd never hear anything again but what the heck.

They do use AR mags. Nice rifles. Almost bought one last summer.

It's not LE only, it's been a while but Dakota Mart in Pierre, SD had about a half dozen on the rack. I don't know how well they sold as they had them in their rack out from behind the counter and they usually only do that with close-out stuff. I looked one over but wasn't particularly interested in it.

I contacted Remington a while back about the 7615 and asked why they couldn't do their .308 7600 using a FN/FAL or M14 magazine...

THAT would be a heckofa "homeland defense rifle"... especially if you had a spare barrel in .358 Win...

I honestly can't fathom why. Imagine the gun below with a pistol grip &/or collapsable/folding stock & a 30 rd mag...

Or better yet, shortened into a bullpup... in .308/7.62...

No problems feeding a pump ammo that would choke a gas gun...

Imagine this in a .30-06 with an 8rd mag.

I have one of these, and it is a good shooting rifle. Your arms get a little tired when you use a 30 round magazine and try to empty it from a standing position, but it is handy rifle. I don't know if you can still find them, but I have a ten round magazine for the 760 in 30-06. This gives one more firepower for the pump guns.
