Picked up 1927 Winchester 94 SRC yesterday.

It will make a great truck gun. I usually carry an "El Tiqre" in 44-40 but when I want a little more power this 30-30 will do fine. I got it for 400.00 could have been 300.00 but lost the flip. It has been resighted in the thirties with a Marble sheard front and a full buckhorn D.W. King sight rear. That is better for me with my old eyes. The bore is excellent. It must have been carried a lot and shot little. It shoots great!

That's EXACTLY what '94s should sell for. These fools asking a thousand, or more, for even rough '94s need a lesson in gun sales. They wonder why there are no bids on the guns they post on internet sites. Start the bids at $200 and watch the action take off. I have to shake my head when bids hit 8-900 dollars and the reserve hasn't been reached. C'mom, get real.

RR7, your gun was well worth the price. Not a steal, but a fair deal. I'm looking for a late 1920s-early '30s '94 carbine for a project gun. The barrel can be shot, but the finish must be good. No "gum wood", only walnut.

"carried a lot and shot little" is pretty common with 30-30's. Remember, we on these websites are the exception. Most 30-30 people don't handload, and don't shoot as much as a few rounds a year. A couple to see where she's shootin', and one or two on a deer. Those Winnies do get carried around a lot though. Yours looks like a rifle to be proud of.

Nice find! Nice looking 94 SRC. I found one, also made in 1927, about 3 years ago for the same price ($400). An elderly friend was selling it because he didn't hunt anymore. I wanted to pay him more but he refused to take it. (About $600 is the going price in fair condition around these parts.) A friend who has a small Winchester collection offered me $650 for it but I wanted the rifle more than the extra $

Nice SRC, RR7. Kind of makes my heart jump when I think of it as a truck gun. Most of those are thrown in the rig with little regard and beat to death. Given your attention to all things old I don't think that's how you'll treat yours.

kimwcook, you are right. I don't abuse any of my guns. It just means that it will be carried in my truck more often than the others. I always have a rifle and handgun with me when I go to the ranch. What ever season it is makes a difference what they are. Out of season this one and a 45 Colt will be with me.
