Yea, too bad they:
hacked the barrel off
cut an extra dovetail
reblued a cased receiver
refinished the whole gun wrong

pretty close
I looked at the sawed off Marlin in 25:20, and noted that the serial number was 2781XX. I pulled my own 1894 Marlin in 25:20 out of the safe, lo and behold it was # 2783XX. Probably only 200 rifles apart, or thereabouts. Mine has the right length octagon barrel though, and case hardened reciever. No thanks, no hack saw needed here. Bruce
