Ruger Blackhawk 50th anniv.

Post by Paul Jenkins »

Gentlemen,
I intend to auction on GB a new in the box unfired with warranty .357 Mag. 50th anniversary
Blackhawk. $600 was paid back in 2005. Why was it worth so much more than the Blackhawks
of today which sell for maybe $425?

CDNN used to have them for about $400. Did you buy it from a local shop, they could have marked it up because of the whole "50th Anniversary" thing.

I'm used to thinking of my 1975 Super Blackhawk as a "200th Anniv." model, so I saw this post and thought "Man, how OLD is that Ruger? Did they even make them back then?"

Weren't the 50th Anniversary's a limited run built on flat top frames?

The Ruger 50th Anniversary Blackhawk in 357 mag is slightly different in that it is all steel and built on a flat top frame. Also roll marked and gold filled on top of the 4 5/8 barrel. I love mine and shoot it quite a bit.

Around here they sell for $425 - $450 new in the box. Prices will likely go up as they become scarcer.

I paid about 450 for a new one shortly after they came out. With only a couple hundred rounds, the cyl loosened up so bad, it will turn backwards a 1/4 inch in battery  The, Cogs?, on the cyl are worn and don't hold. I should get a new cyl fitted.

Ever watch Pawn Stars ? The short answer is you paid full manufacturers suggested retail when 6 mo later the discount houses were floggin off the reamins at 2/3 the price. BUT I have never heard of shooting a ruger so loose the cylinder turns backwards? I think that one would go back to the factory asap.

Fortunately I don't own the gun. I paid $287 for my Blackhawk through Davidson's 5 yrs ago. I have personally found comemoritves to lose value faster than the standards.??? Mostely the leverguns.
