Ot- Rossi after a little cleanup

Post by pwl44m »

I spent about 3 hours on this yesterday.Using some old G.I. bore cleaner and steel wool it looks a lot better. The barrel cleaned up really nice but the receiver was a different story. It still has some rough spots but I got tired of rubbing plus I didn't want to go too far. Now I need a sight elevator and it is good to go. See the diff in the Pics.

That brings back memories. I cleaned one up for a friend way back when. The greatest problem was in removing the wasp nest from the inside of the barrel. Once I got it scrubbed out it actually shot pretty good. It's good to see an abused/neglected rifle put back in order.

I have one just like it and I think it is a great little gun. Shot a little high at first so I took the rear elevator out and is alot better. Mine has some rust on it also. Just a 'truck' gun. I won it in high school back in '83. Things have really changed.

This pic almost looks like an engraved pattern or two-tone case-hardening, at first...! (old eyes).
