Back To That Mare's Leg...
Finally got the time & weather to run the Rossi up the hill.
Five commercial loads- two were CAS-level, one was a lead SWCHP, the other two were CorBon .45 Colt +Ps.
Accuracy was not quite up to the Chiappa .44-40, but do-able.
I would have no interest in a .44 Mag version, and I would not want this .45 anywhere near my face with the heavy .45s.
Just FYI for those considering one. Efficient, it is not. Fun, with the right loads, it can be.
The bead doesn't work well for me, it's too big for the rear sight notch for best accuracy, a flat-sided post would do better.
Off to Young Kiowa Steve Nate to be bobbed front & rear. When it comes back, the sights won't be a problem. They won't be there at all.

Re: Back To That Mare's Leg...
I still think that .410 version is the best "compromise" for a mare's leg...
C2N14... because life is not energetic enough.

I'm thinking the same thing. Maybe not as "cinematically-accurate", but probably more functional.Old Ironsights wrote:I still think that .410 version is the best "compromise" for a mare's leg...
Re: Back To That Mare's Leg...
No, no Firefly.
Just a no-sight setup like the McQueen gun.
I had actually considered doing a Mare's Leg with a Marlin .410. Got to looking at the dimensions on one I had here, added up the whole package & gave up on the idea.
If you shorten it enough to be truly a one-handed proposition, you lose big on capacity.

What is Castle? That's the second time I've seen it referenced in a Firefly thread in the past 24 hours.vancelw wrote:Wait...I was mis-quoting Castle, not FireFly.

Re: Back To That Mare's Leg...
Castle is a current running TV series staring Nathan Fillion as Rick Castle a crime drama novelist who has connections with the higher ups in the NY govt.
Here's the IMDB page for it: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1219024/
Nathan Fillion also starred as Mal on Fire Fly / Serenity.
In the first season of Castle they are going to have a Halloween party and Castle is trying on costumes. Out he came in is Fire Fly outfit complete with that hokie looking gun.
Stana Katic plays Kate Becket, the NYPD Homicide Detective Castle is hooked up with. She ain't bad, no way, no how.

Enjoy, Firefly affeccionado! Castle is an average crime drama, but it's worth watching for the occasional allusion to Firefly.
