puma .480

Post by brucew44guns »

I was looking on GunBroker this morning at Puma rifles. Saw a .480 Ruger, and the guy states it cannot be sold to California. I'm a prune picker myself, left there in 1975 and will never go back for many reasons. But what is so dangerous or evil about a .480 Ruger lever type rifle being sold in California? Is this what the gangs use now on the streets of L.A.? Is this an "assault" rifle?

Does the .475 bore exceed the maximum allowed under Cal. state law? Just a wild guess. 1886.

No it is perfectly legal here. The guy must have been smoking something. The only round that is outlawed is the .50BMG. Every thing else is fair game.

I was kind of under the impression that only the 50 BMG was banned. Remember Ronnie Barret's letter to the LAPD about why he wouldn't send their rifle back after they sent it back to him for repair work. Glad that the .480 isn't banned. It is having a hard enough time hanging on to life without being banned.

The ad didn't mention the word ban, the gun dealer himself said he wouldn't ship to California. I figured it must be a dis-allowed gun, I wondered why?

Some dealers just refuse to sell to california customers. I guess out of protest maybe. If you of anyone there that wants one call me. I'll sell them one.
