ot- UGH! Flood #2!!

Post by 2ndovc »

For the second time this month Neverending rains and swollen creeks have flooded my basement.
This is getting old!
At least there wasn't anything good on the floor this time.

Went out to rake some of the debris off the new fence. Turned out to
be a waste of time, the stuff was back an hour later!

Anyway, got some good pictures. Water was 12" deeper 1/2 hr after I took these pictures!

More heavy rain on the way!

Think dry!

This was out our back door a few years back; glad we're on a slab vs. a crawlspace or basement...!

Went in the barn pretty good, though...

Hey Doc,

You guys must be catching some of this weather too.

Hoping the rest of these storms will fizzle out.

Thanks Mike!

More on the way. Whatcha gonna do?

At least the flood ins. is paid up. sad thing is that the water has to reach the floor joists before it pays off.

Not much we can do but keep the pumps running.

Hope you don't suffer too much damage. By chance do you live near the Chagrin river?

Thanks for the laugh!! Didn't think of that!

To me it's not that big of a problem. I grew up furher down river where it flooded all the time.
Blondie and the kids are a little freaked out though. City kids. :D

UncleBuck,
I'm about 30 miles West of the Chagrin River. Vermilion River.

We're in for 1-to 1 1/2" tonight. Hoping that doesn't happen.
Getting dried out a little.

I hope you can rig up some kind of pump with a float to minimize the water depth in the basement. That sure seems like a mess and a pain in the neck too! Best of luck to you and your family!

Have two of 'em!

Coming in so fast that one was overwhelmed. Second, larger pump kept up OK.

Big prob. is my house is a re-work. Half is 100 yrs old and the new part is less than 10.
Issue is in the old part of the basement. Dug up half of it. Just have to do the rest.
Hasn't been a problem until this year. Sump crock needs to go down another 8".
That should take care of it. Oh, and a larger pump.

Just whine'n :D

Dude that sucks. All the creeks and rivers here are at flood stage with more rain slowly creeping north. So far our basement hasn't flooded this year but that could change if this keeps up.
