Winchester 94 in 38-55 price?

I know its a hard to answer a general question, but in general what would ya'll consider to be a fair price for a used model 94 in 38-55? It's one of the modern manufacture ones with 20" barrel. There are no frills, and it has moderate wear, but overall it is pretty clean.

If it's a mdl 94AE, $300 or there-abouts to some. Slightly more to others, less to still others. It's hard to give a good valuation without some indication of bluing or wood conditions; pictures are better than nothing, but seeing it in person can provide even closer evaluation.

I wish they were $300 around here, we'd be lucky to get a 30/30 for that.
$600 wouldn't by a beeter, old or new in this state.
Honestly haven't seen any sell on Gunbroker for less than $600 either other than Wyatt's rebores.

Why it's good to get a second opinion. Maybe my disdain for the "AE" is showing?

Expensive around here. $600 and up would be a good guess. I like the AEs have a couple of fine ones with no problems and quite accurate. So as Griff says - there are different opinions on these. I tried to get one at the end but couldn't and they were $700 then. Well at one point I could have gotten one for 700 but got a much better deal on a 25-35.

I believe that the 38-55 caliber would bring a premium here (east central KS), it would be tough to buy one for less than $500 - $550. Although, I have seen clean 30-30s go for around $350 recently.

Sometimes you will get someone who really wants one of the unusual ones that OJ mentions. Not too long after I got my 25-35 a fellow PMed me with a $900 offer which I did not take and wouldn't now.

Now if you want a 95% condition 94AE (20")30-30
It can be had for a tad over $300(they come down some)and they can ship it out to your FFL pretty cheap

I had one of the real nice Trail's End ordered at WalMart from their special catalog....alas, they quit making them about that same time. I think the WalMart price for that fancy one was around 700 new.

I've promised myself a Shiloh Sharps.....perhaps in 38-55. No more buffalo or elephants to shoot around here. They have them in .405, as well...thinking - thinking......

Nope .
So it seems the old sub 400k wrenchester in 38-55 is stiil a good tomato stake , just pull it out and hose it down at the end of the growing season and store inside for winter before reusing again in the next summer. The 32 special just under the 1,200,000 mark isn't worth pulling outta the ground and hosing down each fall ?
Dang tomato steaks anyways They last better than the new ones made for tomatos and look real cool in the garden .

Thanks for all the responses. I reckon the one I saw is priced about right, then. I think it was $550 or $600. You could tell it had been fired a few times, but the wear on wood or metal was minimal. Owner of the shop said he had sold it to the original owner and a few years after the fellow passed, the daughter brought it back in to sell.
