Any tips on searching the forum for things like "32-20"

Post by AJMD429 »

I think I've tried it in both single and double quotes, and with and without the "." before it, and still don't get results. Of course some cartridges like .45-70 might have some of the posts with the phrase "Govt." or whatever (and bring up all the 'political' posts... ), but with ones like .32-20, adding "Winchester" misses most of them, plus gets every other time the "W" word is used. Three-digit searches like ".243" or ".308" do ok, as do "6mm" and so on.

Has anyone figured out the trick to searching for threads for the hyphenated-cartridges...?

It would be very useful to have the ability to use our 'search' function in that manner, given the large number of 'hyphenated' cartridges we deal with here.

Use the Google for the levergunscommunity.com domain. Works MUCH better than our own search.

You mean like entering the terms ".32-20" and "levergunscommunity.com", or is there an embedded 'Google' button somewhere on the forum I've just missed...?

Click on the advanced search button/link and fill in what you know. Site/domain is the very last block you fill in.

I like Bing better than Google because of Google's "liberal" politics, but I like FreeCause search even better.

Regardless though, thanks for the TIPS...!

I like Google better than Bing. Bing comes up with too much unrelated **** and aparrently it thinks "yyy zzz" mean yyy OR zzz, not "yyy AND zzz"
