Soemone on another board pointed out the the real emergency was that the DC area has the highest per square mile population of reporters/journalists.

There was a similar quake in Colorado, but not so many reporters, so not much of an emergency.

Isnt it amazing how many people post without reading the thread?

I was on the 2nd floor of our house when the 7.2 Loma Prieta quake hit back in 1989. Our house was less than 50 miles from the epicenter. THAT was an earthquake.......

Obama's crack - too funny!

Yep, talking non-stop. Reminds me of the coverage down here when it is supposed to snow. "Storm Team" this and "Storm Team" that. We did feel the quake here, just some shaking for several seconds. Rather cool. 8)

Scientists have determined the earthquake affecting Washington, D.C. today was caused by the Founding Fathers simultaneously rolling over in their graves...
The most important aspect of this signature line is that you don't realize it doesn't say anything significant until you are just about done reading it & then it is too late to stop reading it....

I was watching the Boston news channel( after all I am a resident of the Bay State) and they had film footage of our great elected Leader on vacation again wearing a red shirt on the putting green at some exclusive resort on the Massachusetts island of Martha's Vineyard. You could see the image of him and others jiggle as the tremors transmitted energy through the old bedrock up into New England. This of course was after he went on a bike ride through the Cornellus State Forest.

At work I didn't feel a thing but my Dad witnessed it and wasn't sure what happened but checked the news.

I wonder if our grand exhalted leader had his shot thrown off?

in the '89 Loma Prieta, a co-worker was in downtown San Francisco, on the 20th floor of an office building. As the quake started moving things around he looked out the window at the office building "right next door." There was a guy in that building in the facing office, looking at my pal .... and then the buildings began to seriously sway. The two buildings got into a motion moving closer to each other. I don't recall how close the buildings approached, but my pal said it was close enough to see the terror in the other guy's eyes.

Cheers,

Carl
