I recently bought this from my brother...figured I should keep it in the family. It is a Western Auto "Revelation" .30-30 made by Marlin in 1968.
It has some pretty nice wood for a store-brand gun.
The bluing ain't too shabby either

That is a nice Revelation / Marlin. It seems to me that the store brand guns of the past were not considered discount guns as a rule and were made just like the manufacturers own guns.
I think stores like Fed Mart, K-Mart, Target, Walmart started this trend to have sore versions cheapened down.
At least that's what it looks like from here.

If I had a friend like that, I'd keep him in money and tell him to keep his eyes open. Nice rifle for sure.

Those are the best kind in my eyes.
An off name brand with nice wood and a dove-tailed front sight blade.
I honestly can't stand the newer Levers with the front ramp
I bet that thing will shoot like a dream when you find a load it really likes, and it'll still probably shoot pretty good with one it doesn't
