Got something in the mail today

Post by Rube Burrows »

Last week I wrote one of my favorite Western stars that is still living. Most are dead and gone these days so I figured I would drop Mr. Clint Walker a short message and mail it to him. Me and my son have really enjoying watching Cheyenne. Its good father son time and there is usually a good message on those old 50s-60s westerns that is lost in today's programs.

Well, it came in Monday but since I was sick all weekend I didnt get the mail till today.

It even has a LEVER gun in the pic. Awesome.

Back at you. Here is clint and my wife, taken about 4 years ago. He always was our favorite too. He is a very gracious man and always reminded me of my dad. They both were about the same size and same demeaner. As you can see my wife is big too.

Excellent,
You're right most of 'em are gone. I waited too long to get James Arness's autograph.

I have his and also have Clayton Moore on an envelope. One day I will get around to framing them with a pic.

We met him at a cowboy festivle near us at Kanob. My wife had already told me she had a crush on him as a girl. We just were driveing through town, didnt know about the festivel and I spotted clint and introduced my wife to him. I heard he wanted to move there but guess he hasnt yet. Many years ago (1965) I was a studio cop (security) at universal studios so I had met and worked around many actors and lots of the western actors of the day. In my experiance they all were nice guys.

Very nice. Brings back memories of looking forward to those weekly TV westerns back in the day. And nice of him to be so accomodating for you and your son.

there are 100 times as many channels now, but I get the feeling the choices are fewer.

Definitely remember the show, though I was pretty young - and maybe it was re-runs.

Very cool photo, and very nice of him to send it to you.

I dont think there has ever been a better built actor in history! He did shrink a little with age. You never heard smut about him like most other actors. James arness was a little taller. Met him too. He made my wifes day! Remember the time he was skiing and put the point of the ski pole in his heart and survived? If I recall right he had a daughter that was a airline pilot many years ago. Probley retired herself by now. Cheyenne was my favorite TV western in the late 50s. Think his episodes are still played on the western channel ENCWS, or at least they were awhile back.

I seen an interview where he talked about that and said he heard a voice within. It was a pretty good interview. He seems like he was a genuin guy and walked the line. I am only 32 so I was not around in his heyday but have read lots about him. Never seen anything bad.
