Thanks guys, it shot a foot low the first and only shots so far so changed the front sight but haven`t shot it again, tuckered out.

JReed, it was just standard black steel tubing, about 3/16th wall.

Also i just cut a v notch in the front of the hammer cup as it blew it open upon firing. Seen it in the video by pausing at the moment of ignition.
Probably needs a little stiffer hammer spring, that one is a hacksaw blade.

Thanks gents.
I`m lucky to have a wonderful wife that helps with projects so it`s more fun.
Two days on this gun pretty easy build, JReed i welded two flat plates together spaced right for the hammer and trigger. Then slotted the pipe so it would fit inside the pipe and welded it in.
You can see the end of it in one of the first pictures.
I don`t have a mill or i`d made the receiver from solid stock though this makes the gun lighter.

Pitchy you didnt happen to take a pic of the plate did you? I saw it in the one picture and figured it was a carriage of some sort for the pins just hard to see when its all put together.

Sure don`t bro, it was two 1/4 plates 2 1/2 x 1 in spaced apart so the hammer fits between them and tack welded together. Then put them in the tube through the slot and welded it in. Then ground it all smooth on the outside.
Then after much figuring on how that backwards hammer and trigger worked and designed that we put pins through the hammer and trigger on the bench until they worked right.
Then measured the distance between the pins and marked that on the receiver and drilled the holes.
Kinda a fit as ya go thing if ya know what i mean.

Thanks 45Colt.

I didn`t like the wood forearm, it stuck up like a sore thumb and the ram rod had to bend to go in it.
Made a metal one with a friction spring that looks and works better.
Shot five more times this morn, first shot was dead on center but got worse as i shot.
I don`t have any 45 balls so used 44`s with a double patch.
The bore needs some more cleaning as it sat for years with crud in it.

Thats it! Look at the hammer spur, it is curved back making less prone to snag.

I was thinking when your out n' about with it you may as some folk do have the hammer lowered on a capped nipple etc.

I don`t think it would make that much difference as long as it is , i wouldn`t carry it with it capped anyway until i`m ready to shoot.

Correction boys  it`s a 50 cal not a 45.
Must be the heat and the stress of the build, thought sure it was a 45.
No wonder it didn`t shoot those 44 balls good, more range report in the morning.
More the better, have lots of 50 cal. balls. :)
