New introduction of the Win 71!

Post by dkmlever »

I read in the new Rifle Shooter magazine that Winchester is bringing back the model 71 in 348. It will be in two grades, "high" and "standard" and will have the tang safety on it.
Who is getting in line to buy one?

No mention of price in this brief review.
All it said was that the standard model will come with select walnut, classical styled forearm, steel loading gate, half mag tube, iron sites and comes drilled and tapped for a sidemounted reciver site.

If they mentioned that, I wonder if that means that they were thinking of putting a plastic loading gate on it and decided against it?

On second though, I think it's just the marketing people not really being gun people and therefore not knowing what's important and what isn't.

I'm guessing that the plant people at Miroku cringed and then laughed when they read "steel loading gate" in the ad copy.

I'll bet it's $4 a round the next time they make it.

"Lawyered up" with redundant safeties? No, thank you. :|

Same here. No reason to buy this when real, GOOD ones
(including the Brownings) can still be found at reasonable prices!

If I passed 1 at a store, I wouldn't even glance at it out of curiosity.
