Another 1911

Post by olyinaz »

Well I needed another 1911 like a hole in the head, but one came home with me today anyhow. Stumbled across a U.S. made Springfield Trophy Match in great shape (looks new to me), with box and all the swag, three Wilson Combat mags, a box of ammo, and a set of walnut target grips (which I don't like so the originals went back on) for $600. Sheesh...couldn't let that pass!!

Nice pistol. Congratulations!

As for being US made -- is that entirely true? My impression is that their frames and slides are made by Imbel nin Brazil, and then the guns are assembled in the US.

  sweet buy ! Time to start shooting some one-hole groups now ! (but like was stated in another thread, a 1 hole group doesn't count if we can see powder burns on the target  )

'Twas a deal indeed! Just got back from the range and she's a shooter. Much better than me no doubt. First mag full at 25ft went into a ragged hole and while at that distance big deal - who cares - I do have pistols that wont do that so I'm pleased.

Super agressive checkering on the front of the mag well. Youch! Actually hurts a bit. Can't argue the effectiveness though...

No idea, but it's not marked anything but U.S. made anywhere on the gun. Do they get rough forgings from Brazil? Perhaps, but I just don't know.

The only ones Springfield makes in-house are the "Custom Shop" guns AFAIK --- i have a GI 1911 and know that it is an Imbel as well, but its also marked US everywhere ---- still great pistols regardless of where the frame and slide were made.

Springfield has a long history with Imbel (and with out-sourcing) - Imbel made the FN-FAL sold by Springfield as the SAR-48 also, as well as a few other things

I don't care Who makes it, I just like 1911 45s but that one is exceptionally nice looking. I love the contrast of the Grips.
