pwl44m , You are no doubt right about that friend. Just like leverguns, they just don`t make them the way they used to. This truck is leaps and bounds ahead in the comfort arena though. Old Blue was your basic tough piece of equipment that probably not sell well today. People seem to buy just for looks and gadgets. I will never use half of the electronic gadgets this one has. Heck I don`t even own a cell phone and I keep fumbling, trying to find the window crank.
This truck don`t even have a gas cap, just stick the fuel nozzle in the hole and pump and when you pull it out the tank seals itself up.

I like those fancy rings under the frontend, they come in handy when you have to get a CHEVY to give you a tow!

I have had three F-150s and they were all fine trucks. Current ride is a Nissan Frontier crew cab 4X4 -- great ride and mileage.
Chuck, I love the red!
The friendly brand rivalry always tickles me, kind of like the Army-Navy game.

Chuck, Did your GMC have the 4spd with the Granny low? Newer trucks are nice, but it seems people are courteous when you are in an older vehicle with big steel bumpers.
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

Congratulations Chuck. I got a 2012 in a 4 door with the same engine not long ago. If you drive it careful you can get 20-21 MPG out of it.

3leggedturtle . Yes it did. And a 292 6 cyl. engine. Those things had been in production since the early 50`s. Tough as nails. If I could buy it brand new again for the same $7,500.00 I wouldn't be owning this one.
I bought a brand new 1969 GMC 3/4 ton 2 wd ,350,4 speed for $3,100.00 when I got out of the army and did`nt even dicker price on it, I paid cash. The sales man thought I was a millionaire. :lo

Re: My new ride, photos
Nice -- I have been enjoying a 2012 I got last March --- great performance (not the best mileage , but it is darn fast for a truck -- I got the twin turbo v6 in lieu of the v8 ) Don't know how the 5.0 will last but my last 2 Ford trucks were a 4.6 v8 that went 230k before I sold it, and a 5.4 v8 that went 175k before I sold it --- both relatively trouble free , so I would expect the new 5.0 will do at least as good
I like the Fords ---- OTOH, I like Chevy's too though -- my "big dog" truck is a 2500 Chev, so I don't get involved in Ford vs Chev debates

Not my favorite truck, but the best value in a truck I ever had was a rusted out '75 short bed Chevy with a 200ci (not sure, but it was tiny) 6 and three on the tree.....over 20mpg and went everywhere everyday....sold it for what I bought it for: 500 bucks....The only 2wd truck I had that would go good in the snow.....

Was prolly a 250ci 6 banger, besides the small block Chevy it was the best motor they ever made.
