Holy cow! I found a good gun shop!

Post by hightime »

Boone's Fine Guns in Isle MN , on the bottom of Mille Lacs Lake. North of the Twin Cities. I was just driving around this weekend. Of course I had an eye out for gun shops. Many are closed on Sun. not this one. I'd say they had a least a hundred early Winchesters as well as hundreds more of any brand or style. May be thousands total. Prices are a bit high, but what's new. A few really caught my eye, but I only bought mounts and ring to put my Weaver on my Legacy. I will go back soon to resume the looking, my wife was with. Let's see I saw original Sharps, Spencer, Trapdoors. Shiloh Sharps, '66 Winchesters, lots of '73's etc. A lot of old Colts too. They also had a lot of new stuff and a room just for black guns, one room for just 22 cal. One room just for shotguns. About twenty Model 99's. Gosh I just am overwhelmed. I asked if they have a list on line, and they don't. Yet. They've only been open for five years.

Hightime there is some real nice eye candy in that log building. Did they ask you 8 times if you have been upstairs yet? I go in there to look at all the "old" boxes of ammo that was advertised in old shooting mags I used to read. Did you by chance see the Remington RB in .43 Mauser/Spanish?
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

Howdy,
I was at Boone's the other day. The really nice stuff is in the office upstairs !
After I got home, I talked to a friend that lives there; he said the REALLY, REALLY
nice stuff is at the owners house....
If you go there, bring a drool bib.....

I was at Boone's the other day. I did a walkaround the store & I was impressed with their guns. A lot of new guns but lots of older Winchesters & Marlins. I particularly amazed at the amount of old collectible ammo they
had. I did not buy any guns but did get a good buy on a box of blue & gold Peter's 38-56 ammo. I was about a
100 mile drive one way but definitely worth the trip & I plan on going back in the future. We need more gun
shops like Boone's out there!

I was there again yesterday, coming back from getting my new '' old'' Bronco. First I just took a nap in the parking lot. No one was there, but they were open. After I took my nap I went in. I was still the only one there. Odd. Anyway I told the guy that I posted about them on Lever guns and they were quite aware of us. After another pretty good look around and buying an old sling, he wanted to see my Bronco and came out to be amazed at the condition. I asked him how many guns they had, 2,600, but he said that's a guess.
