Winchester Model 94 and 9422 Trappers - photos

Post by mod71alaska »

When I walk in the woods my first choice of rifle to carry is a Winchester Model 94 Trapper. When the grandkids are ready the Model 9422 and 94 Trappers will be the rifles they move up to from the Cricket Youth .22 they are learning on now. They can't wait!!!

Pictured here are 4 Winchester Model 94 and 9422 Trappers with 16" barrels, all pre-safety.

Top to bottom: Model 94 30-30 and 94 Wrangler .32WS; Model 9422 .22 LR and 9422 .22 Mag:

To show a relative size comparison I added a 20" Model 94 SRC to the photo.

Nice collection.

Looks like you really like Trappers.

I am afraid to shoot my US Border Patrol trapper.
It is brand new in the box still.

Does a trapper have more recoil than a 20" Ranger?

Great 9422 saddle ring photos!

I like a saddle ring on a Model 94, but prefer a takedown thumb screw on a .22 like the thumb screw on the Winchester Model 61 and 62.

Image

I have a thumb screw installed on one 9422 so far (2nd from top)

Image

I'll probably put a saddle ring on the case colored 9422M Trapper though. The blued thumb screw just wouldn't look right!

I bought both the Uncle Mike's brass saddle ring & a custom-made takedown thumbscrew from the fella (Joe) over on rimfirecentral who makes/sells the thumbscrews (@ $15).

Image

The above pic's not my rifle, but the thumbscrew's the same - which I substitute for the brass saddle ring, when I take my 9422XTR-M afield.

One's for "show"; the other's for "go". .

Very nice Victor!

Were the 9422's ever made with the long wood ahead of the band, like earlier 94's?

Years ago I had a buddy that had a 9422 mag, it was a very slick operating gun, and fun to shoot.
"Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs even though checkered by failure, than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat." -Theodore Roosevelt-

Isnt it amazing how many people post without reading the thread?

Hi Bill,

The 9422 Legacy and Legacy Classic rifles had a long wood forend, along with a pistol grip stock.
