I dislike the term "awarded", though I know it is used all the time. CMH's are earned, always, and often with the earner giving his last full measure of devotion to God and Country.

"Date of issue" is the term used. That's often (usually) years removed from the date of the action where it was earned.

Although, I feel a lot of them are earned and not awarded...You only get one if someone submits a report about your actions.

It was on the NBC news last night. Some Captain training Afghanies. No more info given other than he will be one of 6 honorees still alive from that conflict.

Pictured showed some youngish white guy although I'm nolt sure that was teha actual honoree.
