Way to go Starline!

Post by Tycer »

If y'all remember, I was concerned that the Starline 32-20 brass I got had been manufactured out of tolerance. I learned that what was 32-20 and what is 32-20 today are different. In earlier times, brass, dies, and chambers varied and now the standard has been set to accommodate the smallest of those variances. I sent Hunter at Starline two cases to inspect to see if they were within spec. They were, at the smallest end of spec, but within spec. He sent them back. Plus another 150 cases and a nice note.

FWIW, my older RCBS sizing die forms the shoulder just right for may Rem 25 and a bit too big for my Win 92 with the reline, but the Lee fits if fine. The Lee still sets the shoulder .050" farther forward than the new Starlines.
Kind regards,
Tycer

Thx Tycer, that's good to know. I have a bunch of new brass but don't remember if is Starline or Winchester. I wonder if Win followed suit.?

Either of them have to beat Remington, out of a bag of 50 at least half split on the first firing. If I recall correctly, the Remington brass was a bit smaller at the base than WW brass.
