Extrem Big Bore Air Rifles

Post by CowboyTutt »

These look like a real quality product so I thought I would share the information. I am wondering how an air rifle would play into hunting rules and regulations? Perhaps it would allow more hunting opportunities? I honestly do not know. "Mr. Hollow Point" who makes the video's is quite the character and not afraid to get goofy on camera. Pretty funny guy if a bit strange!

And what do you say to a 510 diameter 525 grain hollow point bullet out of an air gun at normal air gun velocities? Pretty darn impressive!

And here is their website:

They are able to be used here in Missouri during our regular firearms season. They can also be used during our alternate methods season, which prior to this year was our muzzle loader season. We can also now use handguns during the alternate methods season, as well as bows, crossbows, and atl-latls. Oh and muzzle loaders. I have seen the videos and some of those big air guns are impressive.

Lewis and Clark had them on their walk about. Very lethal. Not legal here in Pa or I would be using one.

And theirs was a 20 shot repeater too...

The Giriondi Airgun is STILL an amazing piece of tech.

The air rifle that Lewis and Clark carried on their "Voyage of Discovery" was said to have been a major reason that people that they met did not try to wipe them out. I read an article a while back, in which the author made that argument, and it sounded like he had a valid point to me.
Just prior to the start of the expedition,a women in St. Charles, Mo. was nearly killed when someone caused a negligent discharge with the rifle while at a party of some sort.
I would love to have one of the modern ones but I also cannot afford one.

How loud are these deer capable air rifles when they go off I wonder ?

This could be the perfect thing for me as I've vasilated about getting a 308 bolt and making it sub sonic and suppressor fitted to be quiet on one of my DCP areas .

If the air rifle is quiet I can make do with it and for a bit less I am sure .

Love the smaller air guns etc. Shooting frogs, chipmonks, even some chucks etc.
The really big ones though, just don't float my boat?
Doing the aprox 4500 psi stuff to me is a pain.
Those tanks are big bucks and its getting to be a pain having them filled around here.
The carbon fiber tanks are the way to go but again big $$$
Maybe its because with the air gun thing if you can't shoot 500rds for $8.95 it just isn't the same???
Course I can shoot all day long at my place with loud guns and that's the way she rolls!

Na, big stuff I want to smell burnt gun powder! :D
But that is what is cool we all have what we like!

Little Doc, glad to see you again! Madman, I just thought the technology was pretty cool. 8)

As to noise, based upon what I have read about some of the more powerful airguns made overseas but not nearly as these pressures, I would suspect they are pretty loud. But best to write the company to find out. They seem very customer service oriented.

Ya, they might be fun but its the filling them with air.
Reqular scuba tanks for nearing 4500-5000 psi really to me ain't cutting it.
Honestly, should be using Carbon Fiber HP tanks(big bucks) and even getting them filled around here is getting to be a PIA

the 308 filled to 3000psi (recommended psi) is about as loud as a 22lr out of a ruger 10-22. but makes a different sound.
local fire dept's can fill air tanks. some will some won't.

It might be a difficulty, but if you were ever stuck someplace where you had the means to pump up the tank but not the availability of gunpowder or reloading equipment, such as Lewis and Clark, it might be worth having. I think the technology is pretty cool. Now if the method of pressurizing the tank could be made a little easier...

I'm thinking this might be a decent alternative to sub sonic handloads and suppressors that we now use in some of our Damage Control places .
But only if it's relatively QUIET !

fun thing to remember... you don't need a Tax Stamp to suppress an airgun...
