Sam Fadala book question

Post by slimster »

I have decided to purchase Mr.Fadala's classic, but am not quite sure what exactly to get. I have located a first edition of "Winchesters 30-30 model 94, Americs's favorite rifle" I have also found a copy of "Winchesters 94, America's Rifle" . What I would like to know, is, are these two separate books in their own right and worth having both, or is the second simply a reprint of the first? If a reprint, which of them would be the better to acquire? Thanks for the help, guys! Slim

I was not aware of the existence of two versions. I would have to go out to my shop to find my copy. I can if you want. I bet they are the same. Someone just shortened the name for the add.
It is a great read by the way. Lots of info and a couple good hunting stories. Also a lot on the AI .30-30 with load data.

This is the one I have...

I paid much less for mine though. It was surplus from a library in the Seattle area.

Thanks for the reply. I just ordered that one. From what I've ben able to determine by Google, "Winchester's 30-30 model 94, Americas favorite rifle" was published in 1986. That is the one I have ordered. "Winchester's 94: America's rifle" was published in 1993. If the newer one is worth having in addition to the original, why, I'll just go on and get that one too! Maybe someone will chime in who is familiar with both titles. Thanks again Chuck and everyone else!

I've got the 1986, but it says The Rifle America Loves.

Possibly a slight name change due to being a reprint but with the same contents???
It seems the early ones have some collector value. I will have to remember that and not use mine to swat flies with.

You are in the right, arjunky. I am old enough to suffer the "CRS" too often these days! I just checked the order confirmation on mine. I do believe I'm pretty close on the title of the 1993 version though.

Winchester's 30-30, Model 94 - The Rifle America Loves by Sam Fadala, Stackpole Books, copyright 1986, ISBN 0-8117-1905-7.

When in doubt use the ISBN.
Sincerely,

Hobie

go to the library , get them to find the books and bring them in.
look and decide which you would like to buy.

i believe they are the same but different.
careful what you wish for, you might just get it.
