hello everyone although I have read the lever guns forums for a long time I haven't been a member so I thought I would join up. i have three lever action rifles. first an original Winchester 71 made in 1936 then a miroku model 71 made in the mid 80s and finally a marlin 45-70 guide gun made while marlin was still a company. my favorite is the Winchester 71. also may I say I have really enjoyed your forum. also I do enjoy reloading. john

Re: new member from north carolina
thanks for the hellos and welcomes. mod71alaska my Winchester 71 is a standard rifle and has the bolt peep rear sight. it is as far as I know all original. it came to me in good shape. the wood has scratches but the blueing was really good. also the bore is in excellent condition. the action was too. it actually appeared to have been carried a lot but shot very little. bert hartman who has access to the Winchester polishing room serialization records through dec 1945 dated my rifle to have received its serial number sept 25th 1936. the browning miroku 71 I have is very well made and is the carbine with 20 inch barrel. it is not as slick as my Winchester. by the way my Winchester will feed rounds even when held upside down I tried it. also if you hold the barrel down slightly when you move the lever down sharply the 348 round just goes right in the chamber with just gravity. i am not able to post pictures at this time. john
