Makes me wonder how we produced all that ammunition for WWI & then WWII on antique machines; and cannot produce today what we did then?

The amounts of ammo exhibition shooters use to shoot up, like Ad Topperwein, Annie Oakley. Those day could not be duplicated today because of ammo. That is a sin.

Chuck, I was going to post the same thing this morning but I figure everybody is tired of hearing about it. was in a local sports store (Dunham's) last week and the clerk in sporting goods said the same people clean them out of .22 ammo every week when the truck comes in. same guys go to wally world. they got kicked out of the local Mom & Pop sporting Goods long ago.

The problem is not so much the scalpers but the idiots that keep buying it at scalper prices. As long as dufus keeps paying scalper prices, those will be the prices and the shortage will continue.

It DOES make you wonder why LGS, Walmart, etc cant keep any in stock yet these gunbroker scalpers have a seemingly endless supply.

I did not pay scalper price for the 525 I bought.
It was a local gun store, so it was his price and his normal ( non scalper ) mark up.

Cabela's Reno was in the same condition. No RF except for .17. But, the LGSs around here have plenty of .22.

Go figure.

The issue I see around here are shortages of common powders. Although I was able to find IMR 4895 & 4350 thank goodness.

There is lots of powder available for the .50 BMG and other large Magnums like the Lapua .338
Pistol powders are harder to find. :(

They just had the grand opening for the first Cabela's in South Carolina, in Greenville. :D

Spring of next year (2015) they will be opening one at the NC/SC border (on the SC side :D ), about 2.5 miles from my house. This is going to be dangerous for me... and a lot of fun!!! :D :D :D

Blaine, While I worked in WA this winter I went to Lacy 4 times and found CCI Mini Mag 100 round boxes once (one per person) I also got 100 rounds of standard velocity CCI at Sportsmen's warehouse a few weeks back. Went to three gun shows and all had 22's for 55 or more a brick. I have finished up in WA and returned to CT and the shelves are still bare here. Wally world clerk said 12 555 packs sold out in 15 min this past week.
Washington was just starting to get pretty when I finished up the job we worked, but I am glad to be home for turkey season!

Where do you think the scalpers are getting it... They're the ones with the time on their hands to sit and wait until Wal-Mart unboxes it... then they all line up and buy 'em out.

I walked into the local Cabelas when they opened up to ask a question in the Optics Dept. The guy behind the counter reaches behind himself, grabs a box and hands it to me and says, "One per customer". I said, "What is it?", he says Blazer 22LR in a 500 pack. I said,"I came in to ask about that Garmin 62S, but I guess I'll take a box of those while I'm here"......
