Sad thing is that I bet it still won't hurt their business.

Actually, I would not mind if Wal-mart quit the gun business all together. It is running the small shop owner out of business.

Ever go to a Wal-mart and ask to look at a gun? "I would like to see the bolt action .308 please"..... the 18 year old clerk looks at you with a blank expression........"The shiny one 3rd from the left"......

Most people on this board are fairly savvy about rifles, etc. Could you imagine someone trying to make an informed purchase without prior knowledge at Wal-mart?

Williamsburg (actually York County), Virginia, and Vernal, Utah. (They're only ones I've been in recently. The one in Vernal had a fair selection of reloading tools and supplies.)

I refuse to buy a gun from WM, but I do get my bulk .22LR there and my hunting license. The woman and guys at mine are all avid shooters or at least knowledgeable about firearms.
Kind regards,
Tycer

True. I have nothing against WM but I try to make it a point to shop for just about everything I purchase at the small mom & pop places simply because those business owners really know their stuff and genuinely seem to want to help customers. I know I'll spend a bit more, but to me I value real interaction with business owners who actually are willing to please me in the business transaction.

You get what you pay for. When you buy at Wal-Mart, you're
paying to undermine the local small business guy, to exploit
the Chinese worker, to undermine the strength of the
local economy, and for poor service. I try to avoid the place.

You pay a little bit more at the local merchant for some things,
but you generally get better service, and you're helping the local
business community and your neighbor. And yes, you're paying
a little bit for that - but which would you rather buy?

Rock Hill (SC), though the new store they just opened in Tega Cay (SC) doesn't carry them. One of the stores in SW Charlotte (NC) dropped them a couple years ago. From what I have been told, it is all based on demographics, and whatever else Walmart is, they are kings of understanding the demographics in any area.

I will not step foot in any WalMart, anywhere, for any reason, unless it's an absolute emergency and I have no other choice, period.

Like all good American corporations, they have sold America and the American people out, for maximum profit.

Wally world quit selling guns here years ago, now I'm glad they did. This is not about stopping crime, but logging EACH AND EVERY GUN OWNER for later use.

Mark my words, if Bloomberg is in on it, it has nothing to do with stopping crime.

As for buying from them. I used to when they sold, but since then I'm glad they stopped. I've developed a rappor with local shop owners, and I would NOT go back to them if they were half price.

Those that live in the states where they do sell, just beware, everytime you buy from them you cut out the shop that you MIGHT NEED LATER for repairs or that special accessory. Lots can be bought online, but free advice from a local shop owner is hard to find on the net.
