When the samoyed blows her coat she looks about half the size in the matter of a week. Never thought to make a hair dog though. :D

That is my dog, exactly, but I could make two more, three times a week.

We brought him to AZ and he lost 3/4 of his size. I never realized how skinny he actually is!

My daughter's akita is supposed to shed its coat every six months. I wouldn't want that much hair loss. My curs loose a lot less and its still too much but I aint going poodle.

I'm not talking one of those down sized models. Go for a standard. Then don't treat it like a powder puff. The are big, strong, loyal, and when pushed capable of inflicting considerable damage.

My huskies have all shed like that. I just pull off clumps of hair...no brush needed!

Originally hunting/working dogs. Most love water, we couldn't keep our out of the pool no matter the season, and no they don't shed. Just shear them like a sheep twice a year and you're good to go.

Now that's the SoCal schedule. If you live where it gets cold and snowy, they love that too, just shear them I spring.

Full Standards are AWESOME dogs.

The pom-pom "poodle cut" actually had a purpose at one time. Back when they were used as coursers, they would injure themselves with briars stuck in their bendy bits. So some smart guys with sheep shears started trimming away the naturally poofy fur from the places where the dogs would bend/get infections, and leave the other areas to act as "briar catchers". Pointless on a dog barely bigger than a stickleburr, but on a 110lb dog it is handy.

Plus, there is NOTHING like watching someone's face when you offer to introduce them to your "Little FiFi" poodle dog... and a 90+ lb ... she dog ... bounds around the corner...

(except introducing them to your cat... (Bobcat, Serval or Cheetah)...

My male went 125. I watched him heard kids by pushing them with his shoulder. He hated streets (he ran into a car and dented the door once) wouldn't let little ones near the street.
