Back out in the evening with my friend and his 22-250.
He has been having trouble with bullet integrity under 200yds but some old Horndy 53grn HP match work well.

Well done Nath. 8)

I've been working this weekend, but I'm on my way out now. Going to hit the deer woods with my stick and string soon as I get home.

Some things for your friend to look into with his 22-250, I had some of these issues when running light bullets in my 22-250

I know this might sound like sacrilege on a lever gun and hunting forum, but I'm just asking more for information than anything. Are foxes a particular problem in England that they are routinely hunted. It's my understanding that foxes are mostly beneficial going after mice, voles, shrews, maybe some rabbits which usually need thinning out. That's a fine looking one there, but I guess I'm getting soft in my old age and would rather see that pretty little feller out in the wild.
We've got a lot of coyote hunters here in the Midwest that say they are quite the predator, but I think when it comes right down to it, the weather has more of an effect on our hunted game than the coyotes.
Didn't mean to cast a shadow on the thread, just asking. :?:

Trust me bud, if you want an area of natural diversity in England, control the fox numbers!
Don't be fooled, within 10 days this feller will of been replaced!

Many have an ideal image of the life of a fox, I however have lived very close to them for over thirty years and have a more realistic knowledge than ideals.
If anyone is offended by my antics just say and the pictures will stop.

I was in Ireland recently, and up near Connemara saw a fox which someone had permanently stopped.

Caliber? Nissan.......

It made me think of you.

No issues with the fox hunting pictures, I know they're a problem needing control, just like hogs and coyotes here.

Daisyman, I too like to see foxes in the wild and I admire their ability to survive but the fox can and will cause a lot of destruction in in short space of time if the opportunity arises.
One of the problems over here is that foxes have taken to town and city life, raiding trash cans etc. If it was not for fellas like Nath the countryside would be overrun with them.
That however doesn't make make them any the less a fine looking animal.
If only we could "legally"control our ever increasing badger population then other scarcer wildlife would have a better chance of survival too.

Nath,

Please do not, I repeat DO NOT ever stop your posts and pictures! I am as soft hearted as the next. But realize the need for number control of some species. Love your posts and look on drooling at the thought of being game controller of an estate. Your great pictures do not relate the hard work involved with such a job. Even if it is enjoyable work most of the time,

John

I've gotten a little softer over the years but not on critters like that. Not only coyotes, foxes and coons cause problems. Woodchucks or groundhogs as we say can ruin a building foundation in short order also. Many a barns have had there foundations ruined by them.

I found the vixen, pretty much where I expected.
I stalked in and had to kneel in tall grass.
42 yard shot after an intense stalk and final eye contact.

Nath, I didn't mean to offend and enjoy the photos as much as the rest, keep them coming. I was just wondering and said that in my reply. Not knowing how the diversity is on the wildlife in England made me ask. :)
