Verdigris
How do you get rid of and prevent the verdigris (green stuff) that forms on brass rivets, buckles etc. in contact with leather? I have some old scabbards and slings that need help with this.

Re: Verdigris
I have a constant battle with mould and brass fittings.
I live at the edge of a rain forest and it wants its land back.
So far G96 and zip lock bags are the clear winners.

Elbow grease is your friend... Try FLITZ polishing compound. Very fine abrasive, food safe as well ( for your silver table ware). The felt bobs for use with Dremel tool with FLITZ works very well. Then after you polishing is done, lacquer the parts for an air/ metal seal. Only issue could be where buckles and leather rub through the finish with use.

Don't worry about it. It the natural reaction of brass with animal fat, "grave mold."

Re: Verdigris
Reckon a lot of us folks find out about verdigris when we load a gun belt full of shiny brass rounds only to see it turn green later.

"Never Dull" Comes in a can. Looks like cotton.... Leaves a coating that resists. (at least on chrome....I did my military brass with it every couple days, so I'm not sure about the long term on brass)
