One of those days...

Post by GunnyMack »

Ever have one of those days where nothing goes right?

This morning I decided to mill up some black walnut and start making Dad's urn. Now I did my homework, thanks to Google I figured out the volume for the urn box. So I flattened the board, ripped it oversize, planed it to thickness, had top & bottom profile in my head. However I neglected to actually measure the plastic box! The sizes I have are TOO SMALL! I give up for today, think I'll go visit the puppies and get my head clear.

Ditch the plastic. If there's any remaining that won't fit, think...what would dad do?
Kind regards,
Tycer

Be careful working with walnut in regards to sanding and fine dust. It is toxic to your lungs. You should wear a respirator.
I'm sure you will make a beautiful urn.

Dad will fit without the plastic, just trying to keep the plastic box as a hermetic seal, my box just to dress it up.

Yes i know about the walnut dust, been working walnut since '91 stock making class! I have dust collection in my shop and wear dust mask with a good sander. Red cedar is also mildly toxic, as are a few other exotic woods.
