Daddy / Daughter Time

Post by horsesoldier03 »

This was the first day that I was home from work since my daughter got out of school this year. Took the opportunity to get out to the range, should have taken the camera with me for some action shots. However I did take some pictures of the targets.

I was shooting my Lyman GPR .50 with a PRB over 90 grns FFFg. Todays session produced a 3 shot group that measured 1 5/8" and if you look close you can see the 1st two shots on the edge of the target. This was shot at an honest 50 yards with a rest. Centered is a deer antler short start / 90 grn powder measure that I recently completed.

My daughter took the Glenfield 75 .22 (thats her target to the right) it was shot at 25 yrds. Next to spending time with dad she enjoys softball and swimming.

Looks like a good time was had by all.

I had that same rifle a few years ago and I found that I had to shoot that same load of 90 grains to make it accurate. That is until someone showed me how to load a tight fitting patch and ball combination. I was then able to back down to 60 grains with a RB and my scores went way up.
I still have the Lyman 57SML I used on that rifle. That helped as well. Those Lyman's are sure a lot of quality for the money.

Very nice! Best way to spend time in the world.

Using the CVA Slick Lube prelubed patches that are 0.15 thick and a .490 Hornady swagged round ball.
