Well, I guess we're back

Post by Andrew »

Been checking in to see how the forum was doing and found it working this morning but all cleaned out. Now I see it's filled with the old stuff but has quite a new face to it. I hope every one comes back soon, it could get lonely in here. :P

Yes, good work. It's fairly depressing to spend the time doing a backup and when you need to use it ... it's corrupt. The new software looks good. It looks like there are a few smilies that are not properly translating but otherwise it's good.

Of course, for those of you who were hanging out in the "tent" ... I guess this means YK's post count will be restored to its prior glory.

Hey y'all, hope everyone finds their way back after the spell.
I've been having withdrawal symptoms for days.
The new place doesn't look the same, but I guess we will get used to it.

I guess we're back, but where are we back too? Everything is bassakwards and different. Like somebody snuck in and redecorated your house while you were at work.

Joe .... I think.

Yes, we're back. We all owe a huge debt of gratitude to David Fagan for his efforts to unsnaggle the mess I managed to make. This looks weird, but I'm sure we'll get used to it. I asked him to go ahead and paint before he re-installed it. :)

Thanks, David!

I used the word corrupt that might have been to strong of a word.. I'm not sure how someone did this even a geek like me doesn't know the exact sequences of keys to do this I suspect it was a cut and paste thing. Anyhow the u with the 2 dots over the top was the problem. It causes the msql import (so is this a forum or mysql issue??) to prematurely end the parsing of the word therefor creating duplicate search word indexes and barfing out.

The good news is, actually I just joined, glad I did so I knew to help. This is the newer version that can let you post inline photo's and all in the administrators choose to let you. In addition I had to hack in a little bit of sneaky javascript to stop robots in version 2 so I wouldn't have to approve everyone on other forums with this version I was able to use the default and let me just verify their emails and have not had any problems with spammers and robots creating bs accounts.
If I can get old lever image I'll try to dazzle the top back up again, Paul probably has it, if not I'll search my cache for it but that's painful.

So anyhow I only have one levergun and if I wasn't digging in my safes looking for something I wouldn't have been searching and found this place.

Avatars are bass akwards? Sorry I don't understand...

Oh let me add, the search indexes are building, so it may not work for a while still.

Sorry 'bout that. Avatar size is limited to 100X100 pixels. That conserves screen space for the folks who are still running 14" monitors... :) And believe me, there's plenty of them...

Glad to see things getting back to normal. A little change is good once in awhile, the down time was a bit torturous though.
The only hope you have is to accept the fact that you are already dead. And the sooner you accept that, the sooner you will be able to function as a soldier is supposed to function, without mercy, without compassion, without remorse.

Like the paint job. Thanks Paul, and a warm welcome to DavidFagan. I actually have a good friend with the same name but spelled a little different. I know it's not you because he knows next to nothing about computers unless he's been holding out on me.
"People who object to weapons aren't abolishing violence, they're begging for rule by brute force, when the biggest, strongest animals among men were always automatically 'right.' Guns ended that, and social democracy is a hollow farce without an armed populace to make it work."

I like this format, including having the stuff to the right instead of the left.

One thing is distracting, is repeating the topic headline for each post. But in a way, it does make you consider the original post as you go, something that might help with the wandering topics phenomenon.

You guys will have to choose your titles carefully now.

Let's see here...

Took the boat down the Damariscotta River to The Thread of Life, then took the 9-month old lab swimming/retrieving, then took the boat & the pup out on the lake for a few hours, had a couple of ice cold beers with a nice steak for dinner -- and now leverguns is back -- YES it is a great day after all!!!

Thanks all!
