Friend called me the other day and said he'd been helping clear out two estates and had a bunch of primers to sell! I told him I was low on large rifle and large pistol, and did he have any? He said he might spare 2-3 thousand at $30 per 1000.
So this morning he called to say he'd was coming down out of the hills and did I want to meet to buy primers? Of course I did, and he asked if I still wanted the same amount? I told him I'd take whatever he could spare. So I met him for lunch and he hands me a big cardboard box with 13,000 primers in it! Looked through them, and a couple thousand were pretty old looking boxes, so I passed on them. The rest were brand new Rem. 2 1/2 and 9 1/2 primers. 7,000 large rifle, and 4,000 large pistol. Told him I'd take the 11,000 and he lowered the price to $25 per 1000.
Never used Rem. primers, so hope they work as good as the Winchester and CCI I've used.
Scored primers today!

Nice score. It pays to have friends.
Primers have a tremendous shelf life. I'd've bought the old ones too. I've used lots from the '60s without problems.

First Rem. primers I've purchased, so they will be new for my loads. Don't expect any surprises, as friends tell me they've used them for years and had accurate loads with them.

Now that was a heckuva buy marlinman! Wowser
I don't know about Remington L.P. primers but Remington L.R. primers take a somewhat harder strike to ignite than CCI or Win and much harder than Federal. If you have any rifles that give a light firing pin strike (I have a couple) you will want to use other primers for them. But I have happily used many a Remington primer on all rifles with normal firing pin strike. And I love the packaging that doesn't waste my primer storage space.

Re: Scored primers today!
The Large Pistol primers are the same. A little harder than most others. I had a 1911 that wouldn't consistently set them off due to tight strikes. Didn't have any issues other than that.
Nice score, by the way.
