308, 30-06 etc? Had a friend ask whether they could be loaded and I said the diameter works and I know people have done it, but I will run it by some knowledgeable folks I know for actual testimonials :)

Sure, they'll work. Since bullets meant for the .30-30 are generally constructed to expand at slower speeds than the .308 or .30-06 you may find that they tend to come apart on large game.

I use my 150 gr GCFN for reduced loads in .30-06 for both my Garand and 1903-A3. Since these are made of 6 parts WW and one part Linotype, are gaschecked and measure about 18 Bhn, they could run at least as fast as my .30-30 loads could run... but why? For distances up to a 100 yards the Garand loads only need to run as fast as necessary to run the action... and 1400-1500fps from the 1903-A3 are VERY pleasant to shoot!

I have in years past, but never did load them to full velocities in my '06. Backed off a bit as I had heard that they would expand violently if pushed faster than normal 30-30 speeds

For what its worth...Several years ago I did a test running 30.5gr IMR3031 in 30/30, 308 AND 30/06 with 30/30 150gr jacketed FN bullets with no problems at all. YMMV HTH

Sounds reasonable. Since they are the same diameter, just keeping the velocity down to .30-30 level should not be anything really different from an actual .30-30.

Stay at 2400fps for the 170's and 2600fps fir the 150's. Any faster and they turn into spectacular varmint rounds!

I wouldn't want to push a .30-30 quite that fast.

He asked about about shooting them out of 308 and '06. Which is what I did.

I know. I am thinking that I would not push the bullets any faster than I would push a .30-30. As you said, too fast out of an '06 causes them to become a varmint grenade.

Ive used the Barnes 150 tsx 30-30 projectile in some reduced recoil 308 Win loads. They worked well but tended to peel back too far for.my liking.
