OT - Single Actions !
I was moving stuff around and decided to take a picture !
From the top left ;
Top left is our 1957 vintage Ruger Flattop Blackhawk in 44 REM MAG .
Middle left is my fairly recent edition Ruger Blackhawk 41 REM MAG 6.5" barrel .
Bottom left is my Ruger Flattop 50th Anniversary 357 MAG !
Bottom right is a Ruger Single Six 32 H&R MAG with a 4 5/8" barrel.
Middle right is a still NIB Ruger Blackhawk "Buckeye Special" 32-20 and 32 H&R MAG .
And finally the top right is my grandfathers 1962 vintage Colt Scout "Buntline Special" 22 LR with a 9 1/2" barrel .
These are all my single actions except for a Ruger Old Model Single Six of about 1965 vintage that I didn't dig out !

Do you guys have "normal" wives, or were they some sort of special mail-order women?
"Don't you have enough guns?"
"Uh... no."
"Why do you need more? What are you gonna do with them all?"
Sheesh.

Re: OT - Single Actions !
Guys, those are some really nice single actions! The 44 flattop looks great, 6pt-sitka! And wow, salvo, that .357 flattop looks minty, at least from here! Some very impressive Ruger old models! C.Cash, I can't figure out what the Ruger on the right is... 41 Magnum? It looks like it's wearing an XR3 grip frame.
Here's some of my single actions. And yes, there's a 45 in there somewhere.

Hmmmm , now I think I need a new Ruger Blackhawk 5.5" in 45 Long Colt !
And I still "want" a Colt in 32-20 with a 7.5" barrel ! Or perhaps a 5.5" barrel

The one on the right is an original Flat Top in 44 Mag. It was bought new by my Uncle in 1961, well before I was born. He helped raise me and taught me about shooting pistols, shotguns and riding horses as a young man. I miss him dearly!

The 1911 IS a "single action"!
And it's probably one of the most successful "single actions" of all time!
I stake my butt to one on an almost daily basis.

Re: OT - Single Actions !
The secret is to find THEM a hobby (if it's "shooting" all the better) - we have a "one gun - one goat" rule at our house; when budget permits we each get to spend something. The good thing is that the goats eventually get sold, traded, or butchered, so she always wants more (she hasn't yet noticed that guns last longer than goats ) Besides, you have to have GUNS to keep the coyotes away from the goats, now don't you!homefront wrote:Do you guys have "normal" wives, or were they some sort of special mail-order women?
Of course, there's always the strategy of leaving an old, beat-up empty gun case in the truck, so when you bring it in the house, it just looks like you're bringing in Ol' Betsy the Truck Gun for the monthly cleaning. . . I'd never do that myself, but I've heard tell of it.
Sixgun said that he didn't believe you the gun was really in good shape, and asked you to send it to me first so I could 'inspect' it. I'll tell my wife I just read an article that coyotes are becoming RESISTANT to .357 and .44 and .45 calibers, so we really NEED a .32-20 single action.Sixgun wrote:. . . if you ever want to move the Ruger 32-20, let me know. . .

Re: OT - Single Actions !
Single actions? Did I hear someone say "SINGLE ACTIONS"...? I got a couple:
Pair of 3rd gens, both used to be 7-½" when they left the factory... but... then I came into their life, both acquired NIB, just couldn't seem to find 4-¾" ones in the '80s (at "reasonable prices):
Both have been "tuned" by Bill Oglesby & slightly "personalized", just in case some tries to mistake 'em for theirs at a CAS match:
And for good measure, a couple of EMF Hartford Models as backups, or my son's whenever he actually takes them out of the safe:
Both of these have also been "tuned" by Bill
And the little woman's, a 2nd Gen presentation version (model and caliber on the right side of the barrel, vs. the standard left side)
With a little "personalization" also:
Then there's the '51 Navies:
Newest 2nd Series by Colt:
the older one:
A Signature Series:
and last but not least, an Armi San Marco manufactured, imported by EMF, '51 made up of left over parts from the Colt 2nd Series in the late '80s:
And don't even get me started on the 1911 single actions! (Actually, I'm a pauper when it comes to them, only have 3).

Ah, I see now! At first in the photo I thought I saw the protective ears of the non-flattop old models. Now I see I was just looking at the micro sight. Very nice 44 flattop! That's one that has eluded my collection for some time, now....C. Cash wrote:Hi Rob,oregon73 wrote:Guys, those are some really nice single actions! The 44 flattop looks great, 6pt-sitka!
