OT maybe - Need Gunsmith in Austin, Texas

Post by Texican »

A buddy of mine needs a 'smith he can trust (preferably near Austin, Texas) to refinish a 1911. The gun has sentimental value and need to be reblued due to some light surface rust. I thought of sending it to Alex Hamilton in San Antonio but he would like some other names as well.

All responses are much appreciated, thank you in advance.

When I lived in Austin I used the Gun Smith, on the second floor, in McBrides down on Lamar.

This is the place in Austin for M1911s. I would have said go see Alan at ART Enterprises, but I see he has shut his shop down and now working with Hank. Two great 'smiths under one roof. Not a bad deal.

Good luck,

Both Hank and allan have been recommended to me in the past although I've not used either one of them. I have an appointment with Alex for late Fall or early winter 2008. He says it take 3-4 months for him to get your work once the appointment is made.

I'll give a hardy second for Hank Flemming.

You could contact Dave Chen at The Gun Store in Cedar Park. Dave handles many tactical and 1911 weapons. He could probably point you to several reputable gunsmiths in the area.

or phone 512-335-5534.
