Scoutmount on Win 94 top eject?
I bet i'm not the first to ask about this!
And I bet it has been answered before!
But searching the net gives me no usable answers.
Have been searching in forums and manufacturers pages and ...you name it...
I just want a set of regular plain weawerstyle bases that fits on the barrel just in front of the reciever.
(without the time and labour to modify something that "almost" fits !!!)
It cant be that hard I tought at first, BUT.....
Please help me!

Re: Scoutmount on Win 94 top eject?
XS makes a mount and so does wild west guns. But you need to drill and tap some holes. The wild west mount lets you keep you rear sight in place. The xs mount has you remove the rear sight and uses the dove tail. Both I think are sold at www.midwayusa.com
I have the wildwest one on my 94.
Good Luck!

I am unaware that such mounts exist without modifying the barrel. How do they attach?
Re: Scoutmount on Win 94 top eject?
Well I expect to do the usual drilling and tapping to get the bases to stick!
Thanks BenT! I have missed that Wildwest mount, I'll check it.

Re: Scoutmount on Win 94 top eject?
there is a mount that uses the rear dovetail and another contact screw that presses against the barrel to make it tight; provides a short weaver style base to mount the scope.
i have one, and if i can find it will post pics and details.

That sounds nice! hfcable. If there is any manufacturers markings on it, I appreciate to get to know.
I have been trying to get in on Wild West Guns page to get a look at theirs but it didn't work out so well.
My local time is 10:50PM so I will quit for today and check in on whats up again tomorrow!

Re: Scoutmount on Win 94 top eject?
If I recall right and if they haven't changed, the XS (formerly Ashley) scout mounts attach using the front scope mount holes on the angle eject models (you'll have to d/t if your 94 is top eject) and the rear sight is removed and replaced with a slot that has holes in it - you place the 1/2 sleeve with rail down on top and screw in the back and then screw into the slot in the front - very slick and no mods needed to the AE models. Once installed it is very sturdy and provides a low mount. A 2x pistol scope works great.

Re: Scoutmount on Win 94 top eject?
All this is great info. Good instructions on HOW to do it BUT to answer your question as you asked it'
NO , Niet, Negative.
I dont know why. Seems like a logical after market venture to me. But It ain't been done yet.
I've got Scout mounts from Burris (out of production) made for the top eject 94 but you still needed to D/T.
The closest -easiest that I've found is the X## brand that includes, with the setup for the 94AE, some epoxy type stuff for bonding the base to the bbl. (It's reversable by using heat to remove it.)

Re: Scoutmount on Win 94 top eject?
There is an XS mount (is that the Ching mount?, I can't remember) but the deal has been done since LER scopes have been produced. I seem to remember a photo of such a setup from the early '60s maybe late '50s.

Oh for crying out loud.
Here's the XS scout mount at Brownells - they exist and can be installed on a top eject if you're willing to d and t the front receiver ring.
http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/ ... PE%20MOUNT
And don't let the "marlin scout mount" title fool you - look at the list of products - right at the bottom is the Winchester 94 model.
And if you'd like one for less, I would be willing to sell you mine for $35 shipped.

And at the bottom of his post he says XS is not an option. Dunno why, but it's what he says.
Sorry I can't be of any help though.

Re: Scoutmount on Win 94 top eject?
I can't give details on something that doesn't exist.
The original posted question specifies "NO modifications".
I realize the various available mounts can be mounted "BY Modification".
Many of you have given good and encouraging advice and instruction but he doesn't want to D&T.
I read a few weeks back that Rossi will be offering a Scout mount for there M92's soon. Hopefully very soon.
I will modify, D&T when necessary but would rather not.
I understand this fellows frustration . I can't imagine why no one has addressed the specific issue .
An Off The Shelf- Ready to Run Scout Base for a Win 94 TOP EJECT.
I guess that they just can't do it w/o D/T and or some way of securing the epoxy.

$35 shipped sounds like a deal to me. P.M. me your address and I'll send you a check. Ship when you've got the cash in your hand. How's that sound.
As you can tell, I'm not against modifications. I promise to take pictures too. I'm still struggling w/the new camera software, but making progress.

Re: Scoutmount on Win 94 top eject?
"XS is not an option" because, IIRC, XS doesn't sell/ship outside the US.
The epoxy in the XS kit isn't strictly needed. I successfully mounted an XS LeverScout base on a Winchester BB94 .450 Timber - w/o epoxying the base to the barrel.
The LeverScout mount will fit any Winchester (94, and maybe a 92) that has the rear barrel sight dovetail approx 4" from the front edge of the receiver (for the front anchor/adaptor).
The front receiver ring needs two holes D/T'd inline with the bore.
There were clamp-on mounts, which secured a tiny LER pistol scope atop the front half of the barrel, in the late 60's (Phantom ?), and some mounted a tiny Hudson scope.
I've also mounted the very small Beeman S-1 2X scope atop a Winchester 94 bolt, using a single, small post mount from Beeman.
It held up just fine, as it was on a .375 BB94.
If I wanted to do it today, I'd just adapt a single, small Weaver base to the rear barrel dovetail ( like maybe using only the front of an XS LeverScout base), and mount a Trijicon Red Dot or a Dr. Optic.
Done.

Re: Scoutmount on Win 94 top eject?
I have one that was on a pre 64 (1956) Winchester 94 that I bought at a local pawn shop right after the Win. closing was announced. I can't post photos, but I'll try to describe it. The rear of the mount fits into the rear sight dovetail and the front of the mount required a hole be drilled and tapped into the top of the barrel band. No holes anywhere else (receiver ring, barrel, etc.) It had a very tight and stable connection and some sturdy rings. I've taken it off and looked all over for a manufacturer's name, model #, etc. Nada. I have no idea who made it, but it appears to be a commercial product or the work of a very accomplished craftsman.
I planned to replace the set-up with a receiver sight, replace the miserable looking, hard recoil pad that had been added to the carbine (buttstock not cut) and replace the barrel band. Have replaced the recoil pad with correct buttplate and have a replacement barrel band, but haven't messed with any more in several months. Wish I could be more help with the description. Perhaps I can get wife to help me get a picture on here someday soon.

Re: Scoutmount on Win 94 top eject?
Ok!
I had posted this question with hope to find a set of regular weawer type of bases.
Of course I have to d/t the barrel in front of the reciever to get them to stick properly, and maybe even use some epoxy. (or at least some threadlock glue)
My remark about the XS mount was based on the looks.
Quite large and in my opinion disturbing the "good looks" of my 94 "TE".
I might go to my local gundealer and measure my way throu his stock of bases....
Or let function go, drop the "good looks" idea and get that XS..
Thank you everybody for engaging in my problem!
O.S.O.K gets rid of his XS and Pepe Ray gets one.
So everyone gets a little happier and wiser, and I have found a fantastic community of knowledge.
(And "awp101" thank you for reading everything!)
Have a nice weekend all of you.

Goatguy,
Yuor mount sound like my Burris forward scope mount. I put it on my Trapper just to try out and liked it so well I have never removed it.
The 10th post down in this thread has a picture of the Burris mount.

Allright..!!!
I had to take that "not the nicest, most slim or desireble designed XS-mount"!
The reason is, I found it on the discount page at Midway Sweden.......
So I gave it a shot.....
Will be back with some pics and a description of how it was made.
(It doesent look that "bulky" as long as I keep the red-dot sight bigger than the XS-rail) Ha Ha...

Re: Scoutmount on Win 94 top eject?
I had to tap holes for a scout mount. So I went with the wild west mount which alllows you to leave your rear sight is place. So if it's raining I have quick release mounts that I can take the scope off and still have iron sights. Plus it is much more pleasing to the eye. Wild west sells the base with rings , but I bought just the base from Midway . But I'm not sure if they still sell it that way. I just bought a NC Star pistol scope at the last gun show. It's 2.5 X with lighted reticle for $45 . I'll see how it works.
