Very cool. I like Kershaw knives, too. I have never had a bad one, and had 3 good ones so far. I am partial to their change blade knives where you have 1 handle and several blades fit it. The woodcraft you are teaching is a good thing. You never know when it will come in handy. The Springfield XD s...

Re: Short and fat or long and thin?

The gospel is that short and fat is more accurate because more of the powder is closer to the primer and thus ignition is more uniform. Also short actions are stiffer than long actions. Does it matter to you and me? It certainly doesn't matter to me. I can get all the accuracy I need from long and ...

Weekend in the woods.

Went for an overnight get away with my son this weekend. We decided on a very rustic approach with our satchels with first aid kit and fire-starting material and a bed roll with a canteen cup, potatoes, sausage, jerky, canned pears, poncho liner, wool blanket, string, hatchet and tarp. Had the wife ...

Re: Ever shoot a SKUNK...?

A old local trapper that showed me the ropes advise that any skunk I caught in the trap line to shot them through the lungs, which deflates them. Hitting anything in the nervous system causes them to tense up and spray, now I've only shot 5 but each one was through the lungs and not one ever sprayed.

Re: 38 special 158 gr load for Rossi 92 and Smith 66

Unique is cleaner burning than it used to be. I like it better than 231 because of its bulk. 38's tend to be erratic in my carbines unless I point the muzzle up before firing a round. This places the powder back against the primer. If I don't do that, I get poor ignition, dirty brass and poor accur...

Depending on how much damage was done to the Glock, you could just change the barrel and keep on shooting it. Just saying. Me, I'm still happy with the same single-stage press that I started with over 30 years ago (RCBS reloader special). It is on its way to Glock for repairs that will not be cover...

The number of destroyed firearms has risen since the progressive reloading mania has hit the shooting community. I would not be surprised. BIL manages to screw up Glock 34 with "bad" reloads. UPDATE

When my BIL bought his Glock 34 to use in IDPA with his son he went from a single stage press to a Dillon 650 and started producing several hundred rounds in one setting. I tried to convey to him some of the “safe guards” I use when reloading on my Lee classic turret, to prevent either no charge or ...

The action on this thing is outstanding, smoothest I have ever cycled and if the scope is as old the rifle it is crystal clear and does not act like a 60 year old scope.
