Well, if that is the case, MikeB I can tell you my 94 in 25-35 is very accurate with 117s.

Just bought a rear barrel band screw from Brownell's, $14.50 I believe. Make sure you get the right one for your serial # rifle, my gunshop ordered the wrong one first then reordered.

In Pet Loads Ken Waters reports that Remington used a 1 in 10" twist in its 25 Remington barrels. He also reports that he got excellent accuracy with a 117 gr. Remington bullet at 2124 fps in his Model 8. The 25 Remington is the ballistic twin of the 25-35.

In the 7x57 Winchester has used at least 3 different twists in the Model 70 from 1 in 8 1/4" to 1 in 10". They also used a 1 in 12" twist in the 307 wihich shoots 170s in the same general speed range for many loads according to Speer #11. The Savage 99 used a 1 in 12" for bullets...

Sectional density on a 117 25-35 bullet (.253) is less than that of a 170 30-30 bullet (.257) at the same velocity. Seems if one will Stabilize at 1 in 10" the other will.

No direct experience but bullets of greater sectional density are stabilized by a 1 in 10" twist.

Congratulaitons on the Renegade. I suggest you contact TC; they replaced fpr no charge a stock on one of their rifles that a fellow I knew sent in that had been damaged.

That is the feeling I had. The powder would probably resist the bullet going any deeper in recoil without much roll crimp.

Mike, I have some Federal factory 200s and some Remingtons. As I shake the Federals and listen it seems there is no space left but there is a little with the Remington factory loads.

It seems to be mildly compressed when I load it, just filled the space. Might depend a little bit on how your reloader drops the powder. In My RL 550 it gets shaken a little as it moves from the powder drop to the seating station as it does when the case comes down from the powder die. It gave me 20...

I never use brushes - just solvent and patches - so far mine has not leaded. I shoot jacketed through it also. Probably helps take any lead out.

Welcome to the fold. On a 54 manufacture there are two holes spaced at what looks to be 1 1/8" with the rear most 3/8" forward of the back of the tang. Indeed these are behind the scope holes. I will we on the lookout for you. 8)

Both great cartiridges. .257 - 39.0 gr 4064, 100 gr. Sierra or other approx. 3000 fps. 22" barrel 7-08 - 120 gr Sierra, 47.0 gr of H380 2850 fps - 130 gr. and 46.0 gr 2760 fps - 140 gr., 46.0 gr., 2650 fps all very accurate in a 20" barrel. Model 7 .257 a little flatter, 7-08 more flexible.

New Pig, what did you do at China Lake - had one day of hunting up there where we got Chukar, Quail, and duck in the same day. Glad to see you made the leap over, Actually for me: unscoped, .22, 357, 45 Colt, 30-30, 444 - pretty much covers the range. scoped, 25-35, .243, .250, .300 Sav, .308, 30-30...

Well lastmo, on the handiness issue, I have carried scoped bolts for the most part so any lever seems handy. I'll have to try your way and pick the spots I hunt. Thing is out here it can be close or far. I agree with you on the rain etc
