I have a 1.5X5 on mine and usually leave it on 1.5 power. Thats really all you need out to 150 yards, IMO. My son has a fixed 2.5 on his 30/30 and he has killed a pile of deer.

Re: How is your state doing ?

Tennessee Wildlife Resources does a great job, in my opinion. The biggest problem we have is killing enough deer in the Middle Tennessee area. We can kill three doe per day, but many people don't kill enough doe. We like to fill our freezer, so we do our part! We can check the deer in via the intern...

I have an old (1906) Winchester 1894 with a model 21 on it. My carbine is in .32 WS and I have seen several .32 WS carbines with the model 21 sight. My guess is that the ability to have so much elevation adjustment with the model 21 Lyman was appealing to owners of .32 WS carbines that might choose ...

Where to find a checkered steel buttplate

I have searched and can't find a plain, flat checkered steel buttplate for a Winchester 94. I need the one that was used on the later pre-64 guns. Anybody have a lead on one?

Thanks guys.

I have a Springfield "loaded" model that has never failed. Most of the rounds through it have been 200 grain cast loads with Unique.
A load I chose for economic reasons, not reliability. I have had a great experience with the Springfield.

I found a cheap way to get some light bullet plinking loads in my 30/30s. You will find that plain-based cast bullets intended for the .32 pistol rounds are relatively cheap. They tend to be sized .312-.314. All three of my 30/30s will chamber cast bullets sized .311, so I bought a Lee .311 push-thr...

I took steel wool to the receiver since it was freckled anyway. The 70's model has more slack and rattles a little, but it is my

10-12 grains will lead your barrel if you don't use a gas check, most likely. I shoot 7 grains of Unique behind a 115 grain plain based bullet. It is accurate and no leading.
