Don't know if this applies in your case or not, but when I was forced to go to bifocals I learned for the first time why it's really best to shoot with both eyes open. Since I trained myself to do that, I have no problem seeing my sights, and I'm shooting better than ever.

With the standard sights on a 336 or 94, I have no problem making deer-killing shots to 100 yards. With a good receiver sight and a well-matched front sight, given a clear shot, I can manage the same on out to 200.

IMO, in an arena where there is as much competition as the credit card market there is no such thing as an "unfair" fee or interest rate. What there are is plenty of consumers too stupid/lazy to do their homework and shop around for a decent deal.

Just a suggestion -- are you sure the blue came off, or did you just uncover a silvery flash-deposit of lead, as I do every time I fire my Uberti SAA with cast loads? When I decide to clean it off (not often) a brief gentle rub with Flitz polish brings the blue right back.

I think it's already been well-stated, but the fact is that there will likely be as much or more variation in accuracy between two barrels rifled the same way than there will be between cut and button-rifled barrels, assuming all are manufactured to comparable standards. I've got them from 16" to 24". I like the shorty for convenience as a truck gun and in the really tight cover, the 24" when the woods are open and the extra sight radius might come in hamdy on a longer shot, and the 20" is just good all around.

Barrels are ruined by all sorts of things. The friction of bullets certainly plays a role -- jacketed bullets more than cast. Improper or overzealous cleaning can ruin a barrel quickly, and letting a really fouled bore stay dirty for years can lead to pitting. Firing corrosive ammo without proper, p...

Like a spinning top, the rotation does begin to slow the instant the bullet leaves the barrel. But the time of flight is very short, so the spin slows very little during that time. For either velocity or RPMs to increase after the bullet leaves the barrel is a physical impossibility .
