Did you smooth down that side rail? Yes after the second one broke, also cut a slight bevel on the hole where the "tail" slides in and out. Have only put a couple hundred rounds through since the change so I don't know for sure if it helped. The ejector is a cheap, brittle, cast part that ...

Re: That little piece on Win 94 AE 357s that breaks.
The .357 mdl 94AE does have it's own distinct lever. The only difference is the addition of the hole to attach the cartridge block. I put a lever from an old 30-30 in my .357AE because it was .025" thicker than the original that rattled around in the link like a piece of junk. In fact there is...

Re: 357 and the Win94.
The Cartridge block is missing or broken on your rifle. It is a small sheet metal part on the end of the lever that stops the cartridge in the .357 from coming all the way on the lifter. Only used in the .357 and will cause exactly what is happening to you. Part is not shown in the diagram but is U3...

Easy enough to prove or disprove. Take a primed case and put it in a vise. Take a hard cast ,soft cast whatever cast round nose and put the nose against the primer. Something to consider when loading acp brass for Ruger cylinders. Semi Wadcutters will have to be seated so the the front shoulder is even with the case mouth, basically all in the case. I think COSteve nailed it. You are not going to get a 1 lb difference in stocks if they are all carbines or all rifles. The weight is in the steel and the size do the hole in the barrel makes a big difference. A ruger single action with 4 5/8" bbl in .45 colt weighs 39 oz. the same gun in .357 ...

The Greenhill formula as I understand it was based on artillery shells. For rifles it's a very rough guide. An excellent example I've run across personally is two different 158 gr bullets by Lee in the Rossi 92 with 30" twist. The Lee tumble lube SWC 158 gr is stable and very accurate out to 20...

Bullet stability can't always be done on a calculator or just using length. With my Rossi's and their 30" twist two bullets in the 158 gr range are an example. The Lee 158 gr TLSWC is longer than the 158 gr RNFP but at 1150 fps it is accurate out to 200 yds (3-4 MOA) while the shorter 158 RNFP ...
