Re: 150 grain or 170 grain 30-30 for whitetail
I thought 30/30s bounced off deer? :o I have been messing around with a T/C Contender Carbine with pointy bullets. I've come to the conclusion that with a 30/30, 150 and 170 grain FPs really don't loose that much to the pointy slugs. Once I shoot up my spitzer I'm going to use 170 gr. Corelokts for ...

Re: Single shot 30/30 w/ 180 gr PPs?
Well I loaded up 34 grains of H414 and topped it off with the Win 180 gr. PP. No pressure problems, easy extraction. The load is 1 gr. less than the starting load for a 170 grn bullet. Since it is blowing a gale here in the high dessert group shooting will have to wait. I hope I have a good practice...

Single shot 30/30 w/ 180 gr PPs?
I have a few hunded 180 gr. Win PPs from an 30-06 I don't own anymore. I would like to shoot them up for triggertime practice out of my T/C Contender Carbine. I have H414, H322 and IMR 3031 on hand and I'm looking for data and advice. As I said before these would be just practice rounds not big game...

6.5 mm X 54 Manlicher vs. 30/30
As i'm prone to do, I was skimming through an old Hornady load manual and was noticing the ballistics of the two rounds. The 6.5mm Manlicher was known to have killed many large and nasty critters in Africa yet it lobs a 160 gr. round nose around 2000 to 2300 fps. Sounds really close to a warm loaded...

I have been using 4 grs. of Universal Clays with that same bullet. Good accuracy for my ageing eyes.

Re: 25-20 or 32-20
32 WCF!!+= 22 on steriods. I find I take mine out more than any other. I just load mine up to about 1200fps w a 115 gr. bullet. Doesn't tear up to much of the eating parts of a bunny.

Re: Experiences with .357 Mag on Deer?
Thanks. My 1892 was made in 1910. It has some rough wood and was rebarreled at some time as 32-20 Win. She shoots well. I really like the way 92s handle and carry.

Experiences with .357 Mag on Deer?
I am totally sold on the Model 92, I love the way it carries, shoulders and cycles. I'm thinking of a .357 to go with my Vaquero. What are your experiences in taking deer with this caliber? My hunting style is to sneak through the brush still hunting, sometimes getting a close shot but usually getti...

Re: Win 1892 32 WCF Back to Work
BEAUTIFUL! Post more about your loads you shoot through it! 44 http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l161/rotten_05/000_0034-1.jpg My goal was to have a load that was 1200 fps. I tried 7 different powders to go along with a Lazer Cast 115gr RNFP. From the hood of my truck I shot groups with each load a...

Win 1892 32 WCF Back to Work
http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l161/rotten_05/100_1422.jpg After a number of years sitting in the lock up my 1910 Winchester 1892 SRC 32 WCF got some work in. After some load developement and a thorough cleaning she is back taking small game. I'm so impressed on how the 92 handles and shoots tha...
