Re: OT: VA Gunshow, ATF/VA Police Present and Accounted For
Hobie, dude - This is the best I can do with my limited tech knowledge. Can someone find the proper URL (?) and post so all can check this out (or not)? Nevermind, just reviewed it and discovered it was a 2005 story. Oh well, I suppose it won't hurt to revisit these happenings occasionally. Thanks, ...

Re: 180 grn 44mag loads
Check out Ken Water's "Pet Loads" book for a variety of 180gr. loads for the .44 mag. rifles. He mostly has given me my best loads in several calibers in that fine work of his. You'll find a good amount of info on the 180's in the updated .44 mag section of "Pet Loads".

Re: O.T. Arkansas Timber question
Yeah, that would have been a good thing. We're about ready to close on 12 acres that adjoins us for more than $5k an acre, and that's down from $9+k per the sellers were asking a 1 year and 1/2 ago!!! Where's all that cheap land gone?

Re: O.T. Arkansas Timber question
Check with the County Extension Office in Fulton Co. They should be able to point you in the right direction to get the info you need. Were you referring to starting your own company and cutting the timber yourself, or finding some timber cutters to do it and pay you for the timber harvested?

Re: Let's have some fun with names
After retiring and relocating to a small farm here in NW Arkansas, I got into the meat goat farming business, and it, having drained my savings, has taken over my life as well, ... or so my wife tells me quite frequently. Started with it a little more than three years ago and have a loose partnershi...

Ponder this; a pair of stainless Ruger 44 magnum sixshooters. A 5/2" Super Blackhawk for her and a 5 1/2" Redhawk for you. And if necessary, replace grips on each to individualize the poppers for suitable handling. A perfect his and hers pair for the lower 48 and quite appropriate for AK.

Louisa County, VA; interesting. Not in relation to anything else here, but I just read today in one of our local daily newspapers that B.H. Obama's great-great-great-great-great grandfather, Nathaniel Bunch, was born in Louisa County, VA in 1793 before migrating in the 1840's to Newton County, AR by...

Nevermind. It's rarely possible to change someone's negative point of view about a topic in which they have formed such irrational notions. I perceive a class envy attitude at work here within these arguments about the "evil" corporate entity and it's selfish, greedy, mean, coldhearted exe...

Thanks Paul, I agree with the wadcutter recommendation. And I'm not sure that a solid wouldn't have done less damage to Pepper's bed (one hole vs shredded bedding). Most of my shots come about when I'm on the tractor or 4 wheeler and the snakes are moving pretty quick to get out of the way. The shot...

OT - Copperheads and CCI Shotshells, oh my!
Just killed the 2nd Copperhead snake of this Spring a couple of hours ago. Our Catahoula dog, Pepper, alerted me to it by her distinctive bark, saying, "hey Dad, there's something out here that requires your urgent attention!" Found the bugger ensconced on Pepper's bed on our back porch, d...

Well, I suppose if you want to be like everybody else you could go with a single action thumbbuster. However if you want to stand out a little, you could go with Smith and Wesson Hand Ejectors in the .38 special Military and Police Model. Or if seriously stuck on large calibers you could do worse th...
