Gents, I believe that Rossi started making the '92 in 1976. I do not know how they manufactured the receivers, back then, but he more-recent ones are cast (definitly by 2003). I did not strip & refinish my stocks. The previous owner did that. He used Tru-oil for the finish. The original color was very dark, almost black. The remnants of that dark color are still in the hidden places, like the barrel channel & the tang mortices.
