Being familiar with the area, I think you have hit on the solution.
There are canyons that go right to the river, a quick dash across the river and into another canyon on the other side.
Couple minutes, maximum exposure.
I think you need people to counter that

Being math challenged, my 1873 rimfire has most of the rec. interior parts,original ( not cracked butttstock ), barrel , sights, lever, hammer, springs, etc.

If you can locate an old Chevy 3/4 ton truck, try the bottom short spring in the leaf spring set.
This leaf has no curve set to it, grind slowly, use water to cool during grinding, be quick with the welder.
The steel takes a good edge, it will retain the spring "temper "

When my brother & I were young & still at home, we had a reloading bench in the back room. My mother had a Kirby vacum cleaner & it seems the speed & weight of the impeller in the vacum cleaner was enough to set off a primer. With a bag full of dust & a primer going off.............

Try one of the hydraulic recoil absorbers, they go inside the butt, and are unseen. When the rifle is fired, recoil is transfered through the hydraulics ( like a shock absorber...
